To use a heparin tube, start by attaching the needle or catheter to the end of the tube. Then, draw up an appropriate amount of blood into the syringe and inject it into the heparin tube. Be sure to mix any contents that may be present in the heparin container with a gentle swirling motion before drawing back on your syringe plunger. Once you have drawn up all of your desired sample, remove and discard any excess air bubbles from within your syringe barrel. Finally, disconnect your needle or catheter from the end of the heparin tube and dispose of it properly according to safety protocols.
